The aim of this bachelor's paper was to design an object of a gallery with a restaurant. The designed estate is in the Ružinov district by Štrkovec Lake. The place has a strong rational feeling which is reflected in the arrangement of objects and the creation of street network which is mostly right-angled. The creation of concept was preceded by a thorough study of sources, a visit of a place and analysis and a brief study of the history of galleries and exhibition spaces. After I have "breathed in" the atmosphere of the place and studied historic facts I was presented with a question of conceptual arrangement of introverted or extroverted architecture. On the basis of the urban arrangement and of genius loci of the place I have decided to choose the introverted shape of building. My idea was to create a compact, elementary and introverted building which would at first sight hide its function and would lure a visitor in just by decently exposed façade. It should suggest a feeling of mystery and provoke curiosity and imagination. The inspiration for this kind of solution was the painting The Incredulity of Saint Thomas by Carravagio. The differentiation of space and different ceiling heights of particular floors were to create such an interior design which would disrupt the monotonous rhythm of an exhibition visit and would keep the attention of a potential visitor. I wanted to change at least for a moment observer's perspective so she or he would leave the space of a gallery a bit changed. I wanted to perceive the gallery not only as a building but also to take into consideration the interior and the presentation of visual arts. I wanted to create a scenography of exhibition spaces, to look through the eyes of both the observer of arts and of the artist. Permanent exhibitions are assigned to clearly delineated and defined spaces. The lighting and the contact with the exterior change according to a kind of exhibition space. Temporary exhibitions are assigned to clear open spaces where flexibility and needs of an author are accented. For the most part I have worked in my design also with gallery surroundings. I have tried to integrate the object to the estate as sensitively as possible with a view of surrounding buildings and to create a local square of the Ružinov district. It is based on my belief to perceive architecture and urban relations as one problem. Thus the building would not be a solitary object but it would conceptually emerge from the environment.
