The task of the bachelor thesis was to design a reconstruction of the Šafárikovo námestie in the capital city of Bratislava. The main issue was about to re-design public space and to support an urbanity of this unique spot in the city with recognizable identity. I understand the square as a crossroad as well as crossing point in an urban meaning of the word. I would say the goal of this work was about to try to find a way, how a city transportation can be helpful in creating very modern square, but in a historical context, with all due respect to this valuable heritage. In the design, I was trying to utilize all the potential and givennes due to the position of the square, and to find a contemporary way how to work with them. On the other side, the goal was not to cover historical meaning, rather to support these services and posibilities, which can help to create a liveable public space. For instance, to support an idea of a transfer point, to create a background for both university buildings or to reduce a frequency of the street, which crosses the square. In my point of view and in this occasion, the square must be a primary subject in a hierarchy, so pedestrians can have a feeling it is a space for safe urban live. As a medium for this issue, I chose a single material surface as a connection in between two sides of the space. As was mentioned higher, cars are crossing the square, not in a oposite way -- that pedestrians are crossing the street. For this purpose, I think with a use of the traffic ring going across Petržalka's rim.
