Forest ecosystems have an irreplaceable position in the country and perform important functions. Based on their nature, these functions can be divided into production and non-production. Today a new concept is used, which talks about forest ecosystem services. Forests have accompanied human being from the very beginning of civilization and the intensity of use and also influence of human activities on forest ecosystems have changed over times. There is greater focus on non-production forest functions today, especially on function such as places for rest, relaxation, tourism and their significant impact on physical and mental health. The diploma thesis deals with the issue of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on forest attendance. There was used questionnaire, which focused on forest visiting in Slovakia. Final results confirmed positive relations of the respondents to forest ecosystems, where up to 71% of them visit forest regularly. The survey also showed that after the introduction of preventive actions due to COVID-19, forest attendance increased by 8% compared to pre-pandemic times. Forests were visited more by women (11%), by the age group 25-39 years (21%), more in the regions of Central and Eastern Slovakia (10%), more in settlements of up to 1000 inhabitants (15%) and by respondents with primary education (14%).
