Presented bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of natural and cultural potential of the village of ČiernyBalog with regard to its use for recreational activities and tourism. The village of Čierny Balog is best known for its two attractions: the Čiernohorská železnička railway (ČHŽ), built in 1909 for forestry management purposes. Since 1982 it has become a state cultural monument. The second attraction is the Forestry Open-Air Museum (LS) in Vydrovo, opened in 2002. In addition to these attractions, we tried to analyze the needs and expectations of the local population as well as visitors through a questionnaire. We addressed 110 respondents (49% of village inhabitants and 51% of visitors). Visitors most often visit the village thanks to the above-mentioned attractions (LS – 41%, ČHŽ – 33%). Čierny Balog inhabitants prefer to spend time in nature (22%), followed by tourism (19%), cultural events (13%) and cycling (11%). Most people lack sidewalks along the roads (17%), swimming pool (13%), but also skating lines, benches and public space for recreation (33% in total) – thus we tried to outline these requirements as well. The work also includes a 3-day itinerary for visitors with recommendations of various activities.
