The Master's thesis is focused on natural forest ecosystems, volume and structure of deadwood in the area of Kralova hoľa old-growth forest in the Low Tatras. It evaluates the importance of dead wood in forests, especially spruces's. It evaluates the historical impact of man on the forests of the Low Tatras characterizes Kralova hola part of Low Tatras mountains from the physical-geographical point of view and from the point of view of natural conditions. The aim of the work was at the eight temporary research plots in the locality of Kralova hola old-growth forest to evaluate decaying wood and to analyze its quantity, degree of decomposition and structure. We also evaluated the territory of the locality and its surroundings from the perspective of its possible use in the past by historical maps.
