The diploma thesis deals with invasive and expansive species of flora in the bank vegetation of the Turiec river. The theoretical part is dedicated to the characteristics of expansive and invasive woody and plant species .This section is also dedicated to the important concepts and general issues of invasion and expansion a the selected invasive species in the landscape, especially near the watercourses. The results of the diploma thesis are mapped locations in the whole length of Turiec river, where is shown the occurence of invasive and expansive species of plants and woody plants, in the underlying maps. It was observed overall 104 species of expansive and invasive woody plants and 9 most important species of invasive plants. It was recorded overall 9 species of all the species. Fallopia spp. was the most represented type of plant, while Syringa vulgaris L. and Aesculus hippocastanum L. were least represented. The highest appearance of invasive and expansive species was recorded in town residential areas, while the smallest appearance was recorded in the well preserved bank vegetation of the rural areas. In conclusion we compare diploma thesis with the similar researches, especially with the thesis Invasive plants in the Rajčianka river basin and their impact on the biodiversity (VESELÝ, BIELESCH, 2013). The comparison of the results revealed how the natural banks of the rivers positively influence the appearance of expansive and invasive species in the landscape.
