This thesis is dedicated to issues concerning mass traffic accidents. In the first part of my work, I describe the legislation concerning traffic accidents, their division, statistics and give accounts of mass traffic accidents in our country and abroad. Next, I describe the used technical means of vehicle extrication and rescue. The core of this work consists of a model situation of mass motor vehicle accident with the description of its development and give a detailed account of a firefighting intervention. The aim of this thesis, is to introduce the intervention activities of the fire brigade units during a model situation. The main goal of this work is found in the end, where I present a proposal of a methodological approach for mass traffic accidents.
