Caring for protected animals has long been an important part of nature and biodiversity conservation. The organization of nature protection covers rescue facilities, whose main mission is the rehabilitation of handicapped protected and endangered animals and the return to the wild in as many numbers as possible. The work describes the system of functioning of nature protection organizations and networks of rescue facilities in Slovakia and in the surrounding countries. An important aim of the work is also the analysis and information about the historical aspect of nature protection in Slovakia. The topic of help and rehabilitation of animals is currently very topical from the point of view of the lay and professional public, as human activity has a high impact on maintaining balance in nature, and therefore we consider the evaluation of the main causes of animal injuries to be an important goal.
