Smoke abatement plays an important role in fire. Smoke adversely affects evacuation, firefighters' intervention, as well as building constructions. Therefore, it is necessary to ventilate the space in a natural or forced way. Hence why, this study focuses on the impact of vents on fire safety in regards to the building production. The study consists of two parts. The first part focuses on the theoretical analysis of the issue, it discusses and clarifies the basic knowledge in terms of the fire, combustion products, smoke behavior in the enclosed premises of buildings and the possibilities of its ventilation. The second, practical part of the study, contains a detailed solutions for the fire safety of a particular product structure, namely the detection of fire risk, determination of the fire safety level, determination of construction requirements, escape routes and distances. The aim of this study is to compare the PBS solution to two alternatives in regards to the same production structure, which differ from each other by the number of openings in its perimeter structures and in the construction of the roof. In the results of the work, I refer to the impact of openings, i.e. the ventilation coefficient or the ventilation parameter, the fire risk of production and non-production parts and other parts of fire safety of buildings.
