The main goal of the thesis is to evaluate the business planning, methods and techniques within the sample of business companies in the Slovak Republic. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the basic concepts like planning, reasons for planning, basic systems and procedures of planning, methods and techniques of planning. The analytical part oriented to the planning assessment, qualitative, quantitative and heuristic methods of planning, techniques of planning that are used by the companies. Planning procedures from the point of view of the capital origin and profitability are studied in the thesis. The result of the questionnaire survey provides a view of the implementation of the planning in the company, creation of plans and the use of individual methods of planning. The results of the questionnaire survey are evaluated using the mathematical and statistical methods and illustrated by graphs and tables. In conclusion the achieved results and proposed suggestions, which are beneficial to the improvement of business planning, methods and techniques in the companies of the Slovak Republic, are assessed.
