In the first part, the bachelor thesis deals with legislation valid in the area of detection of the causes of fire in the Slovak Republic, where we investigated the detection of the causes of fire from the legal form. It also deals with identifying the causes of personal car fires and discusses fire statistics over the past five years, which has highlighted the most common causes of car fire. These include operational and technical failures, deliberate ignition and electrical short circuits, which have been described in more detail, as well as the resulting direct damage and the number of injured and killed persons. The aim of the bachelor thesis was the experimental determination of temperature development on the exhaust pipe of the car Skoda Octavia of the second generation. It contains results from experimental measurements and their subsequent evaluation. The course of the exhaust pipe temperature varied between 250 ° C and 370 ° C downstream of the particulate filter. Regarding the regeneration of the diesel particulate filter, it was important to determine the temperature at the regeneration of the particulate filter itself, where the temperature was as high as 380 ° C. With a given temperature of 380 ° C, it can be considered as an important fire initiator for most used combustible materials in the car.
