In submitted diploma thesis, which we carried out on the „Population management of the roe deer (C. capreolus) in selected areas of the Štiavnické vrchy Mts.“ at the Department of applied zoology and wildlife management. We presented a brief characteristics of the roe deer. The roe deer is the most widespread and the oldest representative of hoofer game. In the thesis we showed ecology and ethology of the species, description of antlers, abnormalities, the most common illnesses of this wildlife species. We described the general management of the roe deer in selected hunting grounds within the territory of Štiavnické vrchy Mts. We reviewed the amount of deers caught according to age classes of which we determined the amount of medal deer trophies in seasons 2009 to 2018. In conclusion, we mentioned the factors that can affect the quality of deer antlers and we suggested improvements for deer trophies.
