ONDREJ, Slavomír: Survival and growth of long-term stored seedlings of European beech. [Diploma thesis] The supervisor of the diploma thesis – doc. Ing. Ivan Repáč, PhD. Technical university in Zvolen, Faculty of forestry, Department of silviculture.2019This thesis also includes the processed generally valid data on forest renewal, area preparation for afforestation as well as dates and methods of afforestation. The core of the thesis is to evaluate the measured values from the established research areas where free-rooted long-term stored seed material from the nursery centre - Šariš in three various storage temperatures and two methods of nursing of the root system was planted. The first area was established in 2016 into seedbeds in the area of the nursery centre - Šariš. Dendrometric quantities such as height, thickness and height increment of 40 pieces in one variant were measured in this area. The samples were then taken from the first 14 pieces and the dry matters weights of the aboveground part and roots were measured, as well as the number of fine roots in pcs/ cm -1. The statistically significance influence of various temperatures and method of nursing on measured growth and weight parameters of seed material were detected by two-factor analysis of the variant. The second research area was established in spring term of planting in 2018. This area is located in the area of Čergov mountains, in the forest unit Kružlov, in the cadastral area of the village Kríže and part 84. The objective in this area was to plant seed material from the nursery centre in Šariš, which was long-term stored also in three various temperatures and two methods of nursing. In order to compare the influence of the survival of this stored seed material, the seed material which had not been stored but was planted in the area after picking, was planted in this area. 195 pieces of seedlings from each combination of temperature and 15 pieces of seedlings from each combination of method were planted. Dendrometric quantities of height, thickness and volume were measured at the time of planting and subsequently after the first vegetation period where height and thickness increment were detected. The statistical significance between measured growth parameters of stored seedlings and not stored seedlings were detected by one-factor analysis of the variant. The statistical significance of the temperature and method influence on individual measured growth parameters of stored seedlings was detected by two-factor analysis.
