The subject of interest of my thesis is to design the rehabilitation and adaptation of the so-called Old Distillery, located in Liptovský Mikuláš in close proximity to the city center in Baťa alley. There is indisputable advantage of this interesting location and its direct continuity with surrounding buildings, which speaks for familiarization of the complex with its surroundings. Object of this manufacturing complex are one of the rare historic buildings of its kind in Slovakia due to their location and compactness. Precisely because of the integrity and position of the area, I decided to supplement it with housing block, which doesn't suppress areas architecture and urbanism, but rather complements and highlights the existing values. This new building follows the architecture of the distillery with used materials and mass, whilst it is clearly perceptible as a new architecture. The design complements a blank urban area with multifunctional apartment house, which promotes street character and therefore the perception of the environment itself. The proposal aim is to present sensitive incorporation of new architecture to preserved industrial heritage site of the distillery in the centre of the city.
