The diploma thesis deals with the selected properties of Paulownia. The thesis describes the use of biomass as an alternative natural source of energy. The thesis deals mainly with Paulownia, its morphology, the characteristics of individual clones, the conditions for cultivation, production properties, and its use both in terms of energy and non-energy. The differences between measured values of heat of burning, heat, relative humidity, ash content and volume weight Paulownie Shantong and selected fast - growing woods in Slovakia, such as Populus nigra, Salix viminalis and Robinia pseudoacacia, were identified. At the end of the thesis information was found confronted with available information contained in multimedia and bibliographic sources.
