Theoretical part of this diploma work deals with providing public services in the level of local governments. Given topic analyses from the economical point of view and closely examines possibilities of funding local governments services. This work also analyses funding of public services providing by municipalities with the aid of European Union besides traditional options. In practical part is as convenient example of demonstration of drawings so-called Euro-funds chosen municipality Hliník nad Hronom which financial resources from European Regional Development Fund utilizes for reconstruction of public lighting. Practical part analyses process which chosen municipality had to proceed to be able to draw financial fund. In the summary of this work the expedience of drawing European financial funds is assessed and on the basis of investigation of the project of reconstruction of public lighting is pointed out the biggest problems which municipalities encounter when they apply to draw from financial funds.
