The first chapter has been researching the variability of natural populations of gray alder in orographic whole Beskydské. On the studied area was established six research areas for which they were selected assessed quality features trunk, crown, bark. Subsequently the health tribes, crowns and their growth characteristics. From the results obtained it can be concluded that the investigated orographic unit dominated the individual coppice origin were represented in the event of gray alder 57.8% of the total assessed trees. With this kind of dominated the individual level with very good cleaning tribe. The assessment of the shape of the strain showed that the gray jelsa prevalent form inclined continuous strain. Prevailed egg-shaped crown with thin branches 1st grade. In the case of gray alder dominated individual smooth-bark (83.9%). In this type to be damaged by rot (13.9%), as well mechanical damage (13.9%). Crown alders were mostly healthy (58.9%), with no visible signs of damage. The assessment of the overall quality of the evaluated species showed that this species has an average quality.
