Exotic wood is characterized by specific anatomic features that help to distinguish particular species. Kinship and resemblance of wood species in Dalbergia genus does not allow a univocal specification of Dalbergia nigra as endangered wood within the CITES legislature (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). However, there are definite deviations in the course of differential spectrums of exotic wood and their anatomic features – mainly in the distribution of axial parenchyma, organization of vessels and beams. The thesis has been extended by very rare wood species Diospyros crassiflora and Diospyros celebica which often happen to be mistaken in commercial relations both by professionals and laymen. The goal of the thesis was to describe the anatomic structure and colouring of Dalbergia nigra, Diospyros crassiflora, Diospyros celebica and other species of rosewood.
