In the diploma thesis we are trying to solve the issue of environmental burdens in selected EU countries and on the territory of SR, in the context of legislative regulations. The environmental burdens are the remainder of the privatization on the territory of the Slovak Republic. Different types of chemicals have been used to penetrate the environment in the production process. They have been here for decades and are still contaminating ground and surface waters, soils that cause plant and animal death and endanger human health. Through the environmental burden register, we have classified and characterized all environmental burdens within the model area (Bardejov district) according to risk. In the model territory, we analyzed certified and remediated or reclaimed sites of medium and high risk environmental loads. Subsequently, we have analyzed proven environmental load sites that have not yet been dealt with. At the sites of their occurrence, we found ways of their rehabilitation, respectively reclamation. Focusing on the selected confirmed environmental burden (at the Zlaté - TKO landfill), we have designed an innovative way of phytoremediation for sanitation and reclamation of solid municipal waste and have also attempted to propose the possibility of using funds to carry out the rehabilitation and reclamation of the site in question.
