This thesis deals with the production of pellets from spruce wood and separate. The aim of the thesis is to broaden the theoretical knowledge related to the subject as well as to emphasise the fact that the nature has provided us with numerous resources which we are capable of utilising. Furthermore, the thesis aims to gain (by means of experimental observations) new findings and knowledge for a practical use. My work has been organised into seven Chapters. Chapter 1 includes the theory and use of biomass and biogas. Chapter 2 describes wooden pallets, history of the production, the pros of using the pallets and their heat capacity. Chapter 3 gives us a chance to observe Tvrdošín Biogas Station, which is the location that provided the samples for the experimental observation purposes and, thus, has made this thesis possible and valuable. In addition, Chapter 3 shows the station’s establishment, processes and layout schemes. Chapter 4 depicts the pellet production process at Tvrdošín Biogas Station – all the way from supplying the saw-dust to storing and exporting the final product. The experimental observations of the heating capacity and ash content of pellets made of separate (cow manure) added in the production process are included in Chapter 5. The observations of heating capacity and ash content of pellets made of spruce wood with no added separate are to be found in Chapter 6. Finally, Chapter 7 consists of the conclusions that sum up the findings gained at both theoretical and practical levels.
