The diploma thesis deals with the fire safety of chimney systems. In the first part, readers are informed about the history of chimneys and their construction. It also points out the characteristics of the chimney, its structure and the division of chimneys according to various criteria and different aspects. The practical part represents changes in the temperature of the outer casing of the chimney before and during combustion. The last part contains the evaluation of how the heating technology and the chimney structure influences the change of surface temperature. The discussion elaborates discovered facts and justifies the measured results. As assumed, the most suitable chimney system is a three-layer chimney and, when compared to other heating methods, wood-burning is a better heating technology than conventional solid fuel heating.
