The need to develop and apply the principles of organic and alternative agriculture was mainly due to the effects of intensification, which is one of the consequences of the degradation of the soil environment. At present, there are several approaches to reducing the negative impacts of agriculture on the environment. In Slovakia, however, only marginal attention is paid to this issue. One of the innovative, energy-saving and environmentally friendly agricultural systems for growing vegetables is the Agrokruh systemThe thesis evaluates the above mentioned system of land management and compares it with a conventional, agri-industrial arable farming scheme. It assesses selected soil quality indicators that include the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. Among them are mainly basic physical properties that are sensitive to changes in the soil environment, namely bulk density, porosity, airiness, maximum capillary capacity, retention water capacity, capillary absorption and soil compaction. From biological properties determines soil respiration. It is assumed that on the areas under the Agrokruh system there is no compaction of the soil, the favorable structure necessary for the development of soil organisms is created. The thesis also analyzes the possibilities of spatial application of the system and suggests areas suitable for the application of sustainable vegetable growing in SlovakiaThe number of farms farmed by the Agrokruh system is currently expanding and we expect this trend in the years to come. Of the total agricultural land in Slovakia (23,970 km2), according to the soil and climatic conditions specified, 5,600 km2 are suitable for the construction of Agrokruh, which represents more than one quarter of the area potentially suitable for building small organic farms in Slovakia. The territory with the largest area of land suitable for the extension of the Agrokruh system is the Trnava region, therefore part of the work is a proposal to organize a soil fund using the Agrokruh system in this area. Based on past research, we can conclude that there is no soil compaction in the Agrokruh fields; the physical properties determined are more favorable than the conventional management scheme in the ecological management system, and biological soil respiration is higher here.
