This paper is aimed to introduce forest tractors, timber skidding and damage caused in forest by using the forest skidding tractor, as well as describe methods to prevent the damage. Thesis contains results of the damage on the standing forest caused by special-purpose forestry tractor HSM 805 HD in the forests of the University forestry enterprise – area of LS Budča. Sample plots were established in the forest and in following steps we measured several features, such as number of damaged trees, tree species, width d1,3, distance from the skidding track, number of damages on the certain tree, their location on the stem and type of damage. The total share of harmed trees in the forest stand was 49,9%. An average size of the damage was 334 cm2 and the biggest share of injured trees was in the distance of 3 metres from the skidding line. Chosen variables were then statistically tested for significance. After this, measured data were compared with other data obtained from previous researches made by different authors focusing on different technologies. At the end, the current state of skidding by using this model of tractor in the forest of LS Budča was evaluated.
