The protection and management of the brown bear (Ursus arctos) in Slovakia requires a substantial change, especially in terms of legislation, monitoring, but also preventive measures to prevent damages. On the basis of the above, there was a need to develop a management program for this animal with the participation of actors from different sectors. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the new concepts of brown bear management based on the theory of intersectoral cooperation on the example of the Brown bear management program in Slovakia. Multiple coordination mechanisms have been identified in the analysed document. We can conclude that new approaches to brown bear management, which are aimed at multi-sector cooperation, are a good solution for large-scale management.
