The objective of this diploma thesis is to evaluate antierosion functions of the riparian vegetation of the torrent Leňuška (Low Tatras) by the Bank Erosion Hazard Index method. For this purpose, twenty two experimental areas were established, where erosion of the banks was measured by the BEHI method. This research discovered that banks of the torrent Leňuška are not significantly endangered by the erosion. In fourteen cases researched areas have reached the final value in BEHI index the distance between 20-29,9, what represents medium threat for the banks. This research demonstrated that evaluation by the BEHI method corresponds to the real situation of the erosion of the banks on this torrent. At the end of the diploma thesis different experimental areas are evaluated and also photographically displayed. This diploma thesis discusses issues of the riparian vegetation and describes natural conditions and characteristics of the Leňuška torrent.
