The Master Thesis deals with alternative resources of raw biomass and their exploitation within energy sector for feedstock - substrate preparation or solid fuel production. This thesis within the first chapter focused on potential of local alternative resources of biomass as energy carrier for production of solid or gaseous fuels within energy sector. Assuming their use for energy production, it is usually in the form of heat or electricity. The aim is to substitute fossil raw materials with selected energy carriers -crops available in the chosen region. Furthermore, the current state of energy within Slovakia and abroad is identified. At the end of the first chapter, there are several definitions of biomass and the dividing of actual biomass types from different authors. The second chapter presents the objectives of this thesis. Chapter three - the main part of the thesis solves the set objectives in the previous chapter. The characteristics of the selected type of biomass and their detailed description with an emphasis on the energy characteristics - characteristics are processed. These investigations and attempts were to carry out whether chosen biomass met the requirements for substitution of current fossil raw materials exploited within the energy sector. The fourth chapter evaluates the most effective way to use of selected alternative. Described is the whole process of the secondary raw material treatment and the production of the selected fuels. At the experiments, it was determined whether the energy crop is more advantageous and more efficient for purposeful cultivation, processing for the selected application. The evaluation of the results of the solution was determined on the basis of a detailed description of the crop and its parameters for energy use. In particular, the yield of biogas or incineration during combustion and their subsequent comparison with the evaluation.
