The aim of the thesis is to map the situation in the field of interior equipment of kindergartens and by means of a questionnaire and a thorough academic research find out, to what extent does the equipment meet the ideas and requirements of its users – children as well as the stuff of kindergartens. It provides an overview of existing academic resoruces, valid legislation and norms in field of furniture production, as well as the place and function of kindergartens in Slovakia. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first one describes the present state of research. It deals with characteristic features of a preeschooler, it describes the functioning and interior of kindergartens and introduces academic resources and legislation for kindergartens. The second chapter introduces the aims and methodology of the thesis. The third chapter brings forth the results of the questionnaire and formulates requirements on design and production of childrens furniture based on their definition in academic resources, valid legislation and norms.
