The aim of the Paper “Tatra’s hound, the analysis of the first knowledge in the breeding” is breeding process of the Tatra’s hound as a response to the changing structures of the hunting grounds, the related changes and methods of hunting, which is related to the changes of requirements and claims placed on the breeds of hunting dogs. The Paper describes the reasons of breeding and choice of the initial breeds whose a base pillar has became the Slovak kopov for its most suitable exterior and characteristics. The main part of the Paper is devoted to the first steps of breeding where I graphically analyze the basic breeding steps, which has been undertaken from the beginning to the present. One of the steps has been a recognition nationally and an opportunity to participate in exhibitions. The possibility to use Tatra’s hound in hunting is regulated by the legislation on hunting. Hunt-usable becomes after passing the tests of hunting usability. In the end, I evaluated and recommended next steps in breeding and use of Tatra’s hound.
