In the diploma thesis we evaluated The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the building of the Department of Wooden Buildings. The main goal of the diploma thesis was to identify the environmental impacts of the compositions and elements in the construction. We reviewed the theoretical analysis of buildings, a description of the principles of life cycle assessment for the field of building construction and sustainable development under construction. We also evaluated the thermal and technical demands of the building. We used the EDIP 2003 methodhodology for environmental assessment. As we found, the timber building has a lesser environmental impact than its equivalent - a silicate structure with the same dimensions and properties. Life cycle assessment is an important part of modern building construction.
