The aim of this work was to process current situation and offer of digital airborne metrical cameras nowadays as basic instrument for airborne photogrammetry. In the work are summarized cameras of four manufacturers – Leica geosystems, Vexcel Imaging, Trimble and VisionMap. The first chapter contains informations about analogue photogrammetry in forestry, it´s history in forestry, division according to criteria and of course it´s importance. Next is described development of newer digital photogrammetry. In the second chapter are basic informations about cameras for making a picture and informations about picture created by camera. Next are cameras divided to analogue and digital and comparison their advantages and disadvantages. In the end of chapter are described carriers of cameras, their advantages and disadvantages, but also their practical side. The most important part of the work is the third chapter in which there are compared itself digital airborne metrical cameras of mentioned manufacturers and their geometric and radiometric resolution, data recording technology, as well as other doping devices used in imaging. There are described lenses options, their focal lengths, pixels sizes, imaging options (nadir and oblique) as well as possibilities their applications in practice, especially in forestry. In the end there are these possibilities compared and described cameras applications in forestry including the perspective in the near future.
