The main objective of my work was to assess the age structure of all stand layers (stands 1631 and 1632c in Starohorské vrchy mts.) according to collected experimental material. Assessed tree species was silver fir (Abies alba Mill.). Processed material consisted of 22 silver fir individuals from lower layer and 45 individuals from middle and upper stand layer. During gaining experimental material two procedures was used: In lower layer we got the data from stem discs. Stem discs was coleccted from height 1,3 m. We collected experimental material in middle and upper stand layer by using Pressler´s borer. When we got the experimental material, we used sampling design based on simple random sampling combined with stratified sampling which considered chosen diameter interval. These collected samples were modified in that way, that it fulfilled requirements of software and hardware equipment with maximal precision achieved. All the samples were scanned with Epson Expression 10000XL with high resolution (1200 dpi). Then it was evaluated in the Régent Instruments Inc. WinDendro® software. This program offered us silver fir age results. In stand 1631 there was age interval 43 – 122 years, and in stand 1632c we recorded individuals 32 – 206 years old. We used STATISTICA 6 software to assess diameter increment. Then we also used Tukey procedure to determine empirical diameter increment for 10 (I10) a 20 (I20) years. These I10 increments in stand 1631 represented average value for lower layer – 1mm, middle layer – 2,2 mm and upper layer 3,2 mm. In stand 1632c average values represented 1,8 mm in lower layer, 2,5 mm in middle layer and 3,4 mm in upper layer. Another results for I20 increments in stand 1631 represented average value for lower layer – 1mm, middle layer – 1,8 mm and upper layer - 3,2 mm. In stand 1632c the I20 increment reached average value for lower layer 2mm, middle layer 2,6mm and upper layer 3,4 mm.
