The goal of my work is based on available statistical data and investigations to assess the evolution of the population - the frequency of status of brown bears in Slovakia, with the focus on Kremnica Mountains. Describe changes in the habitat of the brown bear, based on information sources to determine the position of nature conservation, management of nature and hunting organizations on this matter. The individual chapters describe the physical extent, reproduce, sensory organs, food habitat, way of life, hibernation. Further, there are elaborated findings of its systematic classification, territorial behavior, enlargement in the world, Europe and Slovakia. In the following chapters I describe the damage caused by bears on the territory of the Slovak Republic, in Kremnica Mountains and compare them with the damage caused by the brown bear in the Štiavnica Mountains orographic unit for thesame period. I describe various methods of monitoring the brown bear (Ursus arctos),their advantages and disadvantages, and according to previous findings, I try to deduce which of these methods is the most accurate monitoring.I believe that the observed results of diploma work might be used in the preparation of measures and tackling the brown bear (Ursus arctos) in the locality Kremnica Mountains.
