The theme of the thesis is the secondary succession of plant communities on agricultural areas. The model territory is mountain meadows and pastures in the Vepor Hills. The aim of the thesis is the reconstruction of gradual changes of phytocoenoses during succession from grasslands to forest communities. The results are based on a comparison of 29 parallel releavé of phytosociological records representing the different stages of vegetation development. Using tabular synthesis, we have described and differentially 4 stages and using the procedure of the succession series. Woody species begin to spread already at the stage of extensively used pastures. At the initial stage, pioniers trees are present, with their cover in E3 and E2 being 22.2 % on average. The stage of preparative hazelnut and birch stands is characterized by an increase in the cover of E3 and E2 and by a decrease in E1 cover. In the last identified stage spruce dominates and the herbal layer is poor. The final stages of the succession are the original fir-beech forests, which have not been preserved in the vicinity of the studied locality.
