The calculation of forces and resources is one of the most important base for effective fire intervention. The main objective of our thesis is to do a calculation of forces and resources for a specified fire scenario. The theoretical part of the work characterizes the behavior of compartment fires and the factors that affect them. We analyze the course and consequences of specific fires in multi – storey buildings abroad. For Slovakia, we analyze the impact of home structure fires based on fire statistics. The proposed situation represents a fire of an apartment in a multi – storey building, in which we also characterized the aspects of fire tactics. The object is situated in the fire protection district of Fire Station (FS) in Moldava nad Bodvou, so we compared our results with the real number of forces and resources available on this fire station. We applied the calculation of the forces and resources necessary to fight the modelled fire and we found out that the real forces and resources of FS Moldava nad Bodvou are not sufficient to effectively fight the fire under the conditions we have determined. The thesis has practical significance in the pre – education process for commander officers and other officers in the fire department to make the interventions more effective.
