This is a modern approach to classifying into qualitative classes. It is necessary to slowly start applying modern technology to the field of forestry economy , where it can greatly facilitate our work and increase the profits from the sale of wood. We have described the qualitative features of wood in detail, and we have also outlined in detail the way of measuring qualitative wood defects. The research was carried out at the Odštepný závod (OZ) in Topoľčianky. The examinated woods were Fagus silvatica, Quercus petrae and Quercus robur. We processed the data obtained using ImageJ software. Subsequently, these values were compared with the classification in the qualitative categories performed by OZ Topoľčianky. We calculated the resulting price using the current price list issued by OZ Topoľčianky on January 01, 2018. We compared the resulting sums with the sums that were issued by OZ Topolčianky and by the ImageJ software.
