Upholstered furniture in its composition contains many flammable materials. It is among the risky components in the field of fire protection, so it is also important to deal with it from the point of view of fire protection and safety. The most important component of upholstered furniture is the surface layer (filler material) and the filler material - PUR foam. The aim of the thesis was to compare the effect of refractory heat on cladding materials (textile based on synthetic fibers, nonwoven - leather, leatherette) and soft PUR foam, which were together in the composition, tested on the basis of the incorrect method. The test was conducted with a radiator for 10 and 15 minutes, and the samples were placed at a distance of 10 cm from the heat source. Through the measurements, it was found that neither wrapping material prevented the penetration of radiant heat and subsequent degradation of PUR foam. It was the least resistant to the radiant heat of 100% PES, where the coating was completely degraded.
