The goal of this final thesis is to propose methods of increasing resistance to attrition on functional areas of chosen reel component for skidding of wood for increasing of its lifetime. In introduction part of the work there is an analysis of component abrasion during operation, characterics of material and methods for creation of hard layers. Based on analyzes there was chosen a suitable methods of welding hard layers on exposed pulley surface. There were experimentally produced samples of overlays-weldments by means of three welding materials and valuated their quality in terms of achieved hardness and bonding of welds on the basic material using microstructure assessment. Based on results, in conclusion there is recommended the optimal additional material for creation of hard lazer for next testing of pulley in operation to determine how the overlay affects to lifetime.
