European yew is the typical tree of understorey, which belongs to slow-growing tree species with stable growth ability. The purpose and status of Taxus baccata in forest ecosystems in Slovakia are important issues for determination of conservation strategy for this noble tree species. Research plots set on study site Lackov grúň belongs to municipal forests Banská Bystrica, forest unit 1189. On research plots we recorded number of tree species, with the focus on European yew. The aim of this bachelor thesis was the determination of number of particular tree species on sample plots and consequently, the analysis of height structure of Taxus baccata in competition of other tree species. What is more, we observed the health condition and damage of yew natural regeneration. Measured parameters were processed tabular, graphically and statistically. This analysis helps us to consider the subsequent development of this noble tree species in study site Lackov grúň.
