The main aim of this bachelor thesis was to analyze the effects of different types of substrates on the cultivation of annual seedlings of Norway spruce (Picea abies L.Karst.). The research was carried out on the free spit of the Semenište forest nursery in LS Ľubica, o. z. Kežmarok VLM SR. Seedlings were grown on three different types of substrates for which peat, compost, and mineral soil were chosen using the duneman method. The experiment was performed in such a way that there were three replications at each substrate. After the first vegetation period, 30 annual seedlings were selected from each variant (substrate) and the following biometric characteristics were measured: the height of the ground, the length of the root part, the thickness of the root cervix. The dry weight of roots and above ground parts was also detected. These characteristics were evaluated by single factor variance analysis using repetition at significance level α = 0.05. The best results for seedlings were achieved on peat substrates in all dendrometric signs.
