Climate change is a reality which concerns not only the future, is also the problem of the present. Lately on the territory of our country too we meet with long-lasting droughts and also torrential rains.The diploma thesis deals with the current issue in the area of climate change and its impact on the change in the amount of rainfall.The theoretical part analyzes the sphere of climate change and the appearance of extraordinary events such as torrential rainfall, floods and hydrologic drought. The practical part is focused on the data processing from SHMÚ about the maximum precipitation in the area of Gemer for the selected 20 years. It is also focused on the data processing from Rimavská Sobota about the sewer network in the selected area of town and through a calculation method by Bartoška verifies the recent sewer network and simulates the precipitation in the form of torrential rainfall. Weak spots, and overloaded section were identified and solutions for this situation were suggested.
