The aim issue of this diploma thesis was to describe the population dynamics of Alpine chamois within area of the Veľká Fatra National Park from 1961 to 2017. Also to describe the distribution of this species in area of the Veľká Fatra National Park. Thesis is also focused on the introduction of chamois not only in Slovakia but all around the world. Also the influence of chamois on limestone valleys and habitats where it occurs, was marginally described. The research was carried out by walking through the places where was expected occurrence of the chamois. The main issue was to record residential characters out of the core area and determine places where the chamois occurs. Through the communication with the hunting associations we tried to find out the places of occurrence and the probability of hybridization of the species with our autochonous chamois populations. Estimated population size is 70 – 80 individuals (2017). Individuals migrate over a long distances, therefore their hybridization with autochonous chamois population is more than likely. In recent years, the genetic analyses has clearly shown the hybridization.
