The diploma thesis deals with the methods of staff and facilities calculations in case of fire of high-capacity tanks filled with petroleum products and their following application into an operative plan. The diploma thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter provides the basic information about flammable liquids. We focused closer on – automotive petrol, diesel fuel and aircraft kerosene. In addition to physicochemical properties we mention the fire preventive measures and the measures for the first aid. The second chapter contains information about storage of petroleum and petroleum products in the state territory of the Slovak republic. It describes various types of high-capacity tanks and their fire preventive security by safety devices. In the third chapter we introduce the purpose of the diploma thesis – the elaboration of operative plan for a division of motor fuels production. This chapter contains a definition of the term operative plan, a methodology of its elaboration and the methods of staff and facilities calculations in the course of fires of tanks filled with petroleum products. The fourth chapter states a representative scenario – the explosion of H 5108 tank filled with petrol and consecutive fire. The reason of the explosion and the following disposal of fire are analysed here. The fifth chapter contains the operative plan which we elaborated for a division of motor fuels production. The operative plan will be helpful for a plant fire department in petrochemical industry.
