Various fasteners can be used to join construction components. Gang-nails are the most commonly used fasteners in truss constructions. Statical and structural principles as well as production technology have been defined especially for spruce wood so far. The bachelor thesis deals with the different requirements for application when using beech wood in constructions. The first chapters are focused on wood as a construction material together with its application in constructions, mainly beech wood. Subsequently, physical and mechanical properties of beech, its structure, defects and requirements for application in construction are described. Various types of fasteners and joints in constructions are defined in the following part in general. Specific focus is given on gang-nail plates in truss constructions (truss connector plates). The final part is oriented to pressing the plates into beech wood and factors affecting this process, such as speed of press, moisture content, material, pressing operation and method of making the joint.
