This thesis is focusing on rescue and rehabilitation stations issues in Slovakia. As because there is not enough materials regarding mentioned issues, the main information source was cooperation with owners and workers of private rehabilitation stations in Slovakia and internet sources. Thesis is systematically divided. The history, meaning and trend of rehabilitation and breeding of an animals especially in private rehabilitation stations in Slovakia are processed and presented in each chapter. There are 5 private rehabilitation stations from 25 of them in Slovakia. Rehabilitation stations in Zázrivá and Rozhanovce are focusing on long-term rehabilitation of injured, state protected animal species. Rescue and breeding stations focused on short-term rehabilitation (up to 3 months) are based in Bytča, Cérová and Ratnovce. Largest number of rehabilitated animals in those stations are represented by species – predator: Falco tinnunculus, Buteo buteo, from an owls: Strix aluco and from mammals it was mainly Erinaceus genus. Birds represent more than 90% of all rehabilitated animals. Based on the numbers of rehabilitated animals that are presented in this thesis, there is need to establish more stations , preferably in regions where there are no stations at all. For example, in Bratislava and Prešov region are those animals moved to the neighboring regions and districts. Dotations of autunomous regions for establishment and support of this stations would be the solution. The good example might be Trnava region, which is mostly runing care of injured animals in Rescue station Havran by itself. As becasue of increasing numbers of injured animals it is necessary to increase capacity of already established rehabilitated stations, to open new aviarys, so the capacity would be suffcient.
