The presented bachelor thesis focuses on the theoretical aspects of soil formation, especially from the point of view the influence of physical, physicochemical and hydrophysical properties of soils by parent rock properties changes during the weathering processes. As this is a theoretical work, the results of the analysis of the above-mentioned theoretical bases will be applied in the future study of geological and pedological properties of soils near Banské village where rocks characterized by high quartz content – limnoquartzite are located. The process of soil formation as well as the properties of soils created on these rocks are relatively poorly described in the literature. Rocks with a high content of quartz are mostly known as poor to nutrients, and therefore are susceptible to podzolization process. This soil type (podzols), however, has not been described in the studied area according to available soil maps. The second part of the thesis deals with proposal of methodology for research of physical, hydrophysical and geo-pedological properties of soils in the locality Banské.
