In this work we have analyzed the growth and potential of underplatned tree species Fagus sylvatica (L.), Abies alba (Mill.), Picea abies (Karst.) and Quercus petraea (Matt.). On the basis of measurements on five research objects in 3rd and 4th forest vegetation stage. Based on the assessment of the measured and derived biometric characteristics of older stands and underplant, the most prospectous is beech, the worse parameters was achieved by sessile oak and silver fir which suffers from periodic damage from game. Spruce on the basis of the comparised parameters is not a suitable species to underplatning at lower altitudes. The beech, oak and fir have confirmed the positive ecological efficiency to the quality of the strain, the crown and survival of the individuals.
