Three different forest stands in Vtáčnik Mts, Žiar Mts and Štiavnické vrchy Mts in central Slovakia have been selected as object of investigation. The main aim is to compare differences in the floristic composition of forest stands on the study sites Čierťaže (Vtáčnik Mts), Hubiháková (Žiar Mts) and Kriviny (Štiavnické vrchy Mts).We characterized geomorphological integration, geological composition, soils, climate, flora and vegetation of localities under study. During the field research, vascular plants in tree layer, shrub layer ad herb layer of three selected study sites have been analyzed. The differences between floristic compositions of herb layer have been assessed regarding different geology, altitude and forest type.
