The goal of the diploma thesis is to research possibilities how to increase the life cycle of cutting sections of tools used in the wood industry based on the knowledge of technologies of woodworking and their characteristics in the production. In the beginning of the thesis, there is a description of technologies related to the wood processing and materials from wood, used tools and methods how to increase their life cycle. The experimental part of the thesis is focused on selection of coating technologies used in wood industry. Coating tools, such as called Cutter and Dowel Drills, together with non-coating tools are tested in ongoing production until end of their functionality of cutting sections and not suitable cutting sections. Final outcome is then compared and illustrated from which we can assume that the use of coating tools in woodworking industry is a benefit when it comes to life cycle of the tools.
