BARTOŠ, MAROŠ: Application of structural thinning in conversion of stands in Pro Silva object Požehov. The Bachelor’s thesis. Technical University in Zvolen. Faculty of Forestry; Department of Silviculture. Supervisor: doc. Ing. Stanislav Kucbel, PhD., Zvolen, 2018. 42 p.The aim of this bachelor work was to analyze diameter and vertical structure of the stand before and after an intervention, based on measurements in the network of permanent research plots. The research was conducted in forest stand 124b which is part of the Pro Silva object Požehov, under forest district Paráč (Forest enterprise Námestovo). The stand is in the process of conversion to structurally differentiated forest using the application of structural thinning. The structural thinning is the part of conversion process, it provides conditions for long regeneration period with the goal to concentrate the increment on the most valuable target trees and to form double-layered stand. Target trees were chosen according to biosociological position and quality. The thinning was intended to support target trees by removing of stems that could limit their growth and to create the multi-layered stand. The next goal was to determine the real stand volume and the current increment. These data were eventually compared with the data from the management plan and data in yield tables. We came to conclusion, that level of current increment is much higher than value from tables and therefore the stand volume listed in management plan is significantly underestimated.
