The diploma thesis deals with evaluation of physical- mechanical properties of selected oil surface treatments on untreated and thermally treated beech and oak wood. Surface hardness of coating films, resistance to impact and abrasion coatings were evaluated. The thickness of coating films was determined by a destructive and non- destructive method. Surface adhesion was also monitored by a qualitative and quantitative test. The physical- mechanical properties of the surface treatments were evaluated according to the relevant standards and compared according to the technical requirements for wooden furniture. Quantitation of adhesion was evaluated statistically by a 3-factor analysis of variance. The influence of wood, thermal treatment and type of surface treatment on the adhesion of the paint film was monitored. The results show that the oil surface finish has a small surface hardness in the pencil test. After the hit, there are traces on the surface, but the changes on the finishes are small. The 100-cycle abrasion resistance complied with the technical requirements, but it was very fast to crack. The adhesion determines that the cohesiveness of the surface layers of the heat treatment is less than the adhesion of the oil paint films.
